Why families use Kukuva
Cypriot families are big, and when they gather the phones come out. A parents’ fortieth wedding anniversary, a grandmother’s ninetieth birthday, the summer the cousins from London, Melbourne and Athens all came home. Everyone leaves with photos, and nobody ever sees each other’s. Kukuva gives the family one album that everyone adds to, so the day is kept whole.
How it works
Send the link in the family WhatsApp group, or put a QR code on the table. Relatives scan or tap, and add photos and videos from their phones. There is no app and no account, which matters when the guests range from five to ninety-five.
Guests can also write wishes, and on Pro record voice messages. For an anniversary, the messages become a lasting gift: children, grandchildren and old friends saying what the couple means to them, in their own voices.
Relatives who live abroad can join from wherever they are. Send them the link, and they can see the photos as they come in and add their own wishes.
Ideas for the day
- Old and new. Ask everyone to upload one old family photo from their phone’s archive. Show them on the wall next to today’s photos.
- Generations. A photo challenge for “four generations in one photo”.
- The wedding photo, again. At an anniversary, recreate the couple’s wedding photo and share it.
- Recipes and stories. Ask relatives to write down a memory or a family recipe as a message.
Your timeline
The week before. Create the event. Use an old photo of the couple or the family for the welcome screen. Write the welcome message in the language the oldest guests read.
On the day. Put the album on a TV in the living room or the restaurant. Ask a grandchild to be co-host and keep an eye on it.
After. Download everything and make a printed album or a slideshow as a gift. Keep the voice messages, they will mean more every year.
