Celebrating in Paphos
Paphos is the island’s destination-wedding capital. Couples from the UK, Ireland, Scandinavia and beyond fly in with their guests for a few days of sun, and local families celebrate here too, in the town’s churches and the villages up in the hills. The scenery does a lot of the work: sea views, sunsets over the water and old stone villages.
Typical venues
- Resort hotels along the coast, with gardens, pools and wedding pavilions. They often host the ceremony, the dinner and the guests’ stay.
- Clifftop and seaside venues where the ceremony is timed for the sunset.
- Small chapels by the sea and in the villages, for intimate ceremonies.
- Village venues and restored stone houses in the hills above the town, for rustic receptions with long tables.
- The harbour area for welcome drinks, rehearsal dinners and the morning-after brunch.
Tips for destination weddings
- Several days, one album. Destination weddings often mean welcome drinks, the wedding day and a farewell party. Plus keeps uploads open for 9 days and Pro for 30, so one album can cover the whole trip.
- Guests from abroad. Kukuva works in the phone’s browser, so overseas guests don’t need to download anything or use mobile data on an app store. Hotel Wi-Fi is enough.
- Send the link early. Put the link in your wedding website or the welcome pack, so guests can add photos from the plane, the beach and the welcome drinks.
- Golden hour. Ceremonies timed for sunset leave strong, warm light during the photos. The live photo wall looks best after dark, so place the screen for the dinner and the dancing.
- Keep everything. Download the album in original quality before you fly home, and share the best photos with your photographer.
Local celebrations
Not every event in Paphos is a destination wedding. For christenings in a village church or a name-day party, the steps are the same, and the guest pages speak Greek as well as English and Russian. See christenings.
